 Ephesians 4:17-19

  1. Read Ephesians 4:17 -19, 2:1-3, and Romans 3:9-18. What stands out to you from those three passages and why?
  2. What does the exceedingly bleak statement “in the futility of their minds” refer to? How have you seen this demonstrated by unbelievers?
  3. We were exhorted to pray for unbelievers in light of the exceedingly bleak statement “they are darkened in their understanding.” Do you find it difficult to pray for unbelievers consistently; why or why not?
  4. Unbelievers according to Eph. 4:18 and 2:12 have no relationship with God. Why is that a frightening reality?
  5. Unbelievers are responsible (because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart) for their separation from God. Why does this matter? Why do some vehemently oppose this reality?
  6. What are some results of minimizing or downplaying our former disastrous spiritual state and the current awful spiritual state of those around us?
  7. Why do we have a tendency to minimize or downplay our former horrible spiritual state and what are some examples of how we do this?
  8. How does having a biblical view of our former spiritual state serve as a tremendous encouragement to us?
  9. Spend some time praying for the unbelievers that you interact with often.
