Ephesians 4:17-21

1. To remind yourselves of the context, read Ephesians chapter 1 till Ephesians 4:21.

2. What are three things that stood out to you in today’s passage, in the preaching and teaching of God’s Word this morning?

3. What does verses 17-19 say about, (1) the former life of believers and, (2) the current life of unbelievers? Why is it important to know this? How can these verses serve as a warning to you, to the body of Christ?

4. Jesus Christ is the embodiment of what?

5. What does it mean “to be shaped by Christ?” (Hint: Pastor Nate gave 2 points regarding that question, cf. Proverbs 3:5-6)

6. What does the “assertiveness/abruptness” of the Apostle Paul’s words in the text, reveal about the text?

7. Followers of Christ desire what? Why is that important to know and understand as a follower of Christ? What can happen to a follower of Christ, if they falsely believe that they have “graduated from the school of Christ?” How can you encourage, or correct, that brother or sister in Christ who believes that?

8. What role does the church, the local body of Christ, have to do with growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ?

9. Is there any replacement for the gathering and fellowship of the saints? Why is it important for the saints to gather IN PERSON? What happens to believers if they fail or neglect the gathering and fellowship of the saints?

10. What hope does the passage (Eph. 4:17-21) provide to believers? To unbelievers?
