Matthew 6:25-34

 

1) Most people feel anxious at least occasionally. 

A) What sort of things do you get anxious about?

B) Is there a specific time or place where you feel anxious? Why?

 

2) Matthew 6:25, Matthew 6:31, Matthew 6:34. We should not worry about the future. In Matthew 6:30 Jesus says “you of little faith” to those who are anxious about what they will eat or wear.

A) Why are anxiousness and worry wrong?

B) How should we keep from worry? (Think critically. How will you do it in your personal life?)

C) How can we help others not worry? (Think critically. How will you do it in your personal life?)

 

3) Matthew 6:26, Matthew 6:28-29. God is upholding and managing His creation. He also knows what we need, Matthew 6:33.

A) Why do we doubt the providence of God if this is true?

B) Why is it comforting that God is ultimately the one who clothes the lilies and feeds the birds?

C) What is so special about God being called our Father?

 

4) Matthew 6:33. We are commanded to seek first His kingdom and righteousness.

A) What does that mean?

B) Are you seeking first His kingdom and righteousness? 

C) If not, what do you need to change in your life?

D) Who encourages you to seek first His kingdom and righteousness?

E) How can you encourage others?
