Matthew 1:18-23; Luke 1:26-33; Luke 2:8-11

1. Pastor Nate began by saying that there's a lot of confusion about Jesus...especially this time of year.

-So how can we be intentional to make this time of year have a Biblical focus on Jesus individually & as families?

2. We went through 5 facts concerning Jesus: Jesus is God in the flesh, the Eternal King, the Savior, the Christ, & the Lord.

JESUS IS GOD IN THE FLESH (Matthew 1:22-23):

-What's at stake in our being convinced that Jesus is truly & fully both God & man? What do we miss out on if we abandon one or the other?

-How does pride show itself today in people rejecting Jesus as worthy of all glory, honor, & praise?

JESUS IS THE ETERNAL KING (Luke 1:30-33):

-We saw from 2 Samuel 7:12, 13, & 16 that this is a fulfillment of God's promise. Why is it important for us to be reminded of how trustworthy God is to fulfill His promises?

-We see in Revelation 3:21, 11:15, & 22:5 that Jesus reigns forever & ever. How is the rule of Jesus far superior to any attempt we could make to rule?

JESUS IS THE SAVIOR (Luke 2:11):

-In this portion of the message, we answered the questions: "Who does Jesus save?" & "What are they saved from?" How would you answer these questions?

-Look at Romans 3:10-17, 23...how vital is it that people have a proper assessment of themselves apart from Christ?

JESUS IS THE CHRIST (Luke 2:11):

-This means that Jesus is the fulfillment of OT prophecies, of which there are 60 major prophecies that are fulfilled in Him...how does this generate confidence about the person & work of Jesus? Does this fulfillment make a difference in how you understand Jesus?

-We heard that those who reject Jesus as the Christ will say they conquer sin by their works. What are the ways that people try to conquer their sin in their own works? Why are all these attempts ultimately futile?

JESUS IS THE LORD (Luke 2:11):

-Jesus is a good, kind, & compassionate master...how has belonging to Jesus brought hope, joy, & peace to your life?
