Matthew 1:18 – 25

 

  1. What aspect of today’s passage raises questions for you about Jesus’ birth?
  1. What were the four things we learned about Joseph from verse 19? If you are a husband, explain what detail of Joseph’s love for Mary that challenges you most.  If you are a wife, state one thing (I am sure there are hundreds) that you appreciate about your husband.
  1. Joseph was a “son of David” Jesus is the “Son of David.” What does that mean and why does it matter? 
  1. In light of the previous question, why is it important that followers of Christ know the Old Testament well?
  1. What is the significance of the name Jesus?
  1. A King is exalted, adored, served, looked to for wisdom and help, followed, given to, and obeyed by His people. What else do the King’s people do for their King?
  1. We know, intellectually, that Jesus is the King, the King of Kings, who will rule and reign forever, but in what aspect of our lives do we struggle to allow Him to rule over us?
  1. Why do you trust, worship, and submit to Jesus as King?
  1. What aspect of Jesus' rule and reign are you, currently, most grateful for?
