Exodus 4:1-9

  1. Read Exodus 4:1 – 9.
  1. What is one thing that encouraged you from today’s passage/sermon?
  1. We have observed that the LORD dealt kindly with Moses' first three reservations concerning his role as the deliverer of God’s people from Israel. How has the LORD dealt kindly with you when you were hesitant or reluctant to fulfill a role He had called you to?
  1. Moses made up a hypothetical situation in which he presumed a negative outcome if he did what God had called him to do, and then he attempted to use it as justification for not doing what God had called him to do. Describe a hypothetical situation in which you presumed a negative outcome, if you did what God what God was calling you to do, and used it to justify not doing what God was calling you to do.
  1. Yahweh kindly dealt with Moses's third reservation about his role, his audience’s receptivity, by giving three demonstrations of His awesome power. Which of these three miraculous signs stands out to you the most and why?
  1. How do you daily remind yourself of God’s awesome power?
  1. How has the LORD demonstrated His awesome power to you in the last month?
  1. It was said that the first demonstration of God’s awesome power, the turning of Moses' staff into a serpent and then back into a staff, symbolized that Yahweh’s power is vastly superior to the might of the false gods of the nations and that He is in absolute authority over all the nations. How does this reality comfort or encourage you?
