Exodus 8:16-19
- Read Exodus 8:16 - 19.
- Pharaoh was guilty of false repentance, meaning he verbally expressed a change of heart, a 180-degree turn concerning Yahweh and Yahweh’s command, but continued to rebel against Yahweh. Describe a time when you were guilty of false repentance.
- Why is false repentance dangerous?
- Pharaoh’s sin brought suffering to man and beast. It ruined people and animals physically and affected people financially. How has your sin led to suffering for others?
- Sin is destructive, and yet we often downplay the ugliness of sin. Why do we have the propensity to make light of sin, especially our own?
- How does an improper view of sin adversely affect our view of the Gospel?
- Pharaoh did not have an information problem; he had an internal problem and therefore needed regeneration. What is regeneration?
- We were encouraged to persevere, plead, and present as we interact with those who have heard the Gospel numerous times but continue to reject it. Which of those three actions do you find most difficult to do when interacting with those who have heard the Gospel many times and still don’t believe?
- Is there an individual or family that you have given up on? In other words, whom have you stopped proclaiming the Gospel to and stopped praying for their salvation?
- In the sermon, “we present” was defined as living a holy life amongst those who continually reject the Gospel. Describe some experiences in which you have witnessed holy living used by God to draw people to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
- Spend some time in prayer for unsaved individuals and families with whom you have a relationship.
