Exodus 20:14, The 7th Commandment

1. Read Exodus 20:1-14
2. God’s law reveals the God of the law. What does the seventh commandment reveal about God’s holiness, purity, faithfulness, and covenant-keeping character? Why is learning about the attributes of God essential to our faith and lives?
3. Exodus 20 begins with redemption before command: “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out…” How does that order change the way we understand obedience?
4. Adultery is more than rule-breaking; it is covenant betrayal. Why is marriage so precious to God, and how should that shape how Christians honor it?
5. Jesus teaches in Matthew 5:27–28 that the seventh commandment reaches the heart. What are some ways believers can wrongly reduce purity to outward behavior only?
6. Sexual purity is not simply external. It is worship. What does it look like to glorify God with our bodies, minds, habits, and private lives?
7. What are some areas where Christians today may be tempted to treat desire, entertainment, screens, conversations, or imagination as morally neutral? 
8. Read Psalm 119:9-16, then answer the following: How can you fight against immorality, impurity, and sexual sin in general?
9. How should the church respond with both truth and grace to those who have sinned sexually, those who are struggling secretly, and those who have been sinned against?
10. Exposed sinners must run to Christ, who washes, sanctifies, and justifies. How does the gospel give both hope for forgiveness and power for holiness?
11. Pray for one another's purity and holiness, whether in marriage, in singleness, or whatever stage/season of life you are all in.
