1. Read Matthew 2:1-12.

2. In Matthew 2:1–12, we see four responses to Jesus the King: trouble, indifference, hostility, and worship. How does Matthew show each of these responses in the passage? Other than worship, which of the other responses do you find yourself most tempted toward at different times in your life—and why do you think that is?

3.  Herod was “troubled” because Jesus threatened his throne. In what ways can Jesus still trouble us today? What areas of our lives are hardest to surrender to His rule?

4. The chief priests and scribes knew the Scriptures but did not seek the Savior. What are some ways knowledge can exist without devotion? How do we guard our hearts against indifference?

5. Herod outwardly claimed interest in worship but inwardly opposed Christ. Why do you think hostility toward Jesus sometimes disguises itself as neutrality, morality, or even religion? How can you guard yourself against it?

6. The Wise Men responded to Jesus with joy, humility, sacrifice, and obedience. What does their example teach us about what true worship looks like—not just on Sundays, but in everyday life?

7. The message emphasized that Jesus restores peace and reconciles sinners to God through His death and resurrection. How does this truth shape the way we face sin, suffering, and even victory?

8. As we look ahead to the coming year, what would it look like practically for you to respond to Jesus more fully in faith and worship?

9. How can your group pray for one another so that we would not respond to Jesus with fear, apathy, or resistance—but with trust, obedience, and joy?
