LUKE 1:26-38

.) Luke emphasizes Mary’s virginity twice in this passage? How does this detail help us better understand the miraculous nature of Jesus’ conception and birth?

.) Gabriel referred to Mary as “favored” by God, which was an undeserved honor. How does understanding our identity as beloved, forgiven, and justified children of God impact the way we view ourselves and others?

.) Mary was the object of God’s grace, not its source. How can recognizing that grace is unmerited favor from God shape the way we respond to Him in our daily lives?

.) Gabriel described Jesus as “great,” a term often used in the Old Testament to refer to God. How does Jesus’ humility and service challenge worldly definitions of greatness? Based on the way you live your life, are you living to be great according to the world or great according to God?

.) Gabriel announced that Jesus would fulfill the Davidic covenant by reigning forever. How does reflecting on God’s faithfulness to His promises throughout history encourage your trust in Him today?

.) Gabriel’s message reminds us that God has a perfect track record of keeping His promises. What promises of God do you find most comforting or challenging to believe right now? How can we remind ourselves of God’s faithfulness in both joyful and difficult seasons?
