Exodus 12:29-42

  1. Read Exodus 12:29-42.
  2. What are some memorable nights for you?
    • What words or experiences or people shaped them?
    • What about God do you remember through them?
    • What lesson did God teach you through them?
    • How did God reveal Himself through them?
    • How did you grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ through them?
  3. According to the Scriptures, it is important for Christians to make it a practice to “remember” the grace of God, and to remind ourselves of who God is and what He has done.
    • Read Nehemiah 4:14 and then answer this question: How does remembering the Lord, who is great and awesome, help us not to be afraid?
    • Read Psalm 105:5 and then answer this question: How does remembering the works, the miracles, and the judgments that God has uttered help us in knowing Him and loving Him?
    • Why is it important to spend time remembering, recalling, and reflecting on the grace of God, who God is, and what He has done?
    • How does knowing God rightly inform your worship of Him? Your love of Him? Your trust in Him?
    • How does recalling and reflecting on who God is and what he has done grow us in our trust of him, obedience to him, and delight in him?
  4. Exodus 12:29-42 revealed three characteristics of God. What are those three characteristics?
    • What other characteristics of God can you see in the passage?
    • Why is it good to reflect on the fact that God is the judge? The deliverer? And the promise keeper?
    • In what ways in your life has God shown Himself to be Judge, Deliverer, and Promise Keeper?
    • How does knowing that God is the judge grow you in a right fear of Him and yet a great worship of Him?
    • How does knowing that God is merciful comfort you? How can you comfort an unbeliever with the truth that God is a merciful judge, therefore they should trust in Jesus?
    • Deliverance implies a cost. Our deliverance from sin and death cost the life of Jesus Christ. By his blood, we are saved. Why is it important in our faith and life to know and reflect on the fact that it was Jesus who delivered us from our sin? Why is it important when sharing the gospel that we tell others that it is only by the blood of Jesus Christ that we are saved?
    • What are some promises of God in scripture that have really blessed your soul or helped you through difficult circumstances?
