Matthew 12:33-37

1) Jesus makes a distinction between a bad and good tree. Ultimately Jesus is the perfect tree that only produces good fruit. What are the ways that we’ve seen Jesus produce good fruit throughout Matthew so far?

2) Why did Jesus call the Pharisees a “brood of vipers”? How and why is he justified in calling them this “unflattering nickname”?

3) What do we need and what do we not need in order to produce good fruit?

4) In light of Jeremiah 17:9, what do we learn about the natural conditions of humanity?

5) What do we have to do in order to receive a new heart according to Ezekiel 36:26-27?

6) “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouths speaks” Take some time to reflect on this statement. How does your speech reflect your heart, where can you improve in your day to day life?

7) Verse 37 says  “for by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned” Pastor Nate made the distinction that it’s not our words that justify us for it’s our words that are evidence of our justification. Why is this a important distinction?
